A North Devon family holiday

Combe Martin Beach before we made it even prettier!
I'm going to begin with sand...she made an arrow in the sand with the end of a fishing net and then added a few lines..."I'm drawing a map Mummy, just in case we get lost". That was it she was off on her adventure...
Meanwhile I was collecting pebbles, you know I have a penchant for hearts...
Then I found a foot shaped stone and added some lovely pebbly toes, one of the little toes ended up being a shell...
And finally I made a tower of pebbles, I brought a few home as a memento and will stack them up somewhere artily!
We found a fish in a rock pool, we caught it in our net, then it jumped out of said net back to the rock pool, ah well at least we caught it - J spent the rest of the afternoon trying to catch it again!
One day trip was to the very picturesque Lynton & Lynmouth, I spied these straw ducks in a row on top of a thatched roof...

I noticed many of the walls in this part of the world are built in this way, with sideways stones, I've got a bit of a thing for dry stone walls - maybe it's a Yorkshire lass kinda thing?
Another enjoyable day out was to Quince Honey Farm. Look at this hive in a post box...
And you could press a button and this hive would mechanically open so you could see the honey bees at work - amazing...

Back at Peacock Cottage where we were staying, our resident Mr Peacock showed us his tail feathers, Ro said "Ooh how many eyes are there?"...
We also spent a morning helping the owners to feed all the animals, the kids chose their own eggs from the hens for our lunch of scrambled eggs and beans on toast, it was the yellowest egg I think I've ever seen...
We were lucky enough to have use of a hot tub in the back garden. J and I took it in turns when the children had gone to sleep one night and it was lovely, you really felt like you were in the treetops with just amazing views and a few birds singing away to keep you company...Nx
