It's all about nature - fallen blossom, snails and a squirrel

A quick jaunt on our bikes this morning to get a few bits and bobs. We came home the long way round as it really isn't far to the local shops. The little lady was riding her bike in front, it was funny watching her purposefully going through all the puddles and then she found some blossom and screamed "look at my wheels, they're all pink!"...
We came across another cherry blossom tree nearer home and she got off and started throwing it all up in air...this would have been lovely had it not been wet.  Look what happened to dolly and the shopping in my bike basket...
I went to put the bikes away and heard all this rattling, it was the stone chippings from the wall dropping onto the garage door, looked up and there it was...a squirrel clung to the wall, just under the guttering, I don't know who was more scared, it managed to scamper round the corner and froze.  It stayed there all day, we went to the park expecting it to be gone on our return...
...nope.  It has gone now...I hope it's not in our roof somewhere. Today seemed to be all about nature, we found this snail outside and M liked to gently touch its shell to make it hide, whereas Ro wanted to stand on it! He didn't thankfully...Nx

Fun in the sun with some Coastal Blue and Wild Thyme thrown in for good measure

I am of course talking Cuprinol garden furniture colours! wish I had been to the coast this gorgeous bank holiday weekend. All 4 of us spent the whole weekend at home in the garden.  The little ones played together and made all sorts of games up to entertain themselves, I particularly liked this one...
They filled a plastic carrier bag with water and tied it to our little pear tree, then stabbed it with those little corn on the cob spikes - hey presto, outdoor shower. They both spent ages running through the stream of water and asking for it to be refilled.  We filled the paddling pool up the next day...
Oh, and J put the tent up...

Meanwhile, I was 'recovering' from my girls night out (in my big shoes), happily painting away in the sunshine. I like this coastal blue, it's crying out for some lovely cushions, best get on with some sewing...
The playhouse got a new lick of paint (that's the wild thyme) and J repainted the door plaque as it had faded quite badly.  These are his manly hands with a bracelet on that Miss M had just made him...
While we swept out the playhouse we found this right in the middle of the roof, I think it's the beginnings of a wasps nest??? the little lady wants to save it to take to school...
What a busy weekend, everyone happy doing their thing. A week at home with the kids now...Nx

Chocolate butterfly buns and BIG shoes

Today I met my lovely friend Jane and she helped me choose dancing shoes for tomorrow evening (night out with girly friends), then we went for a child free Costa coffee.  I mean we didn't have any with us, I'm quite sure Costa don't put children in their coffee!

This afternoon I've been baking chocolate butterfly buns with my 3 year old while attempting to walk in said high heels.  The last time I wore heels was before having children and am waaaaay out of practice...
I will lose the socks tomorrow ;-)  So, Ro chose his (and my) favourite cook book to make the buns, it's one my little sister bought me for Christmas a few years ago and everything I've made out of this book works...
I love this book

Obligatory bowl licking

We made lemon butter cream, Ro said it looked like steam from a train when I was pouring the icing sugar onto the scales.

Smiley butterman

He put the wings on himself and then said I'll have this one
If you can wear big shoes Mummy, so can I...Nx

A couple of crocheted strawberries

I am relatively new to crochet, in fact the only things I've made are 2 dishcloths - which I am very proud of by the way.

So...with the cotton I have left I'm looking for things to make. I decided to make a jam jar lid cover with a couple of dangling strawberries and turned to the web for a strawberry pattern, I came across this one.  I have added to their pattern sewing on some seeds and my leaves aren't as they should be :-/ think I was single crocheting when I should have been slip stitching but hey ho I still like 'em.

They're too big for dangly strawberries but would look nice sewn on top, or even just play strawberries for the children, here they are...
I started making these at M's gymnastics lesson on Saturday morning and just happened to be sat next to 2 other mums who were also crocheting, it's a small crafty world isn't it! Nx

Haworth 1940's Weekend on a sunny Sunday in May

Haworth 1940's Weekend is an annual event that I always enjoy. Loads of people dressed up in their 40's get up, from the glamorous ladies and gents to the land girls to the armed forces. We spent a sunny afternoon there today and soaked up the wonderful atmosphere...and of course I took loads of snaps...
Looking down Haworth Main Street

Lovely striped legs everywhere!  Ro's comment of the day "Everyone's lips are pink".

Loved this dog just chilling out, leaning on the door belt

These gorgeous girls were singing to everyone in the park.

Shall we dance?

The parade...

and we HAD to have an ice cream, a mint for me, 2 vanilla for the boys and blue bubble gum for the girly...
On the way home I asked J to stop the car, I travel on this road a lot and see this amazing view but never have my camera with me. So this view is in front of me...
and this one's to the left, you can see what we call 'the princess tower' right at the top of the hill. I love the patchwork fields with dry stone walls...

And we arrive home and I realise we didn't over prune our apple tree after all!...
