Weekend makes

It's amazing how much you can get done when you don't prepare any meals! (thanks J... love you) and I've thoroughly enjoyed my very productive and crafty weekend...

It began on Friday evening (as most weekends do) with a cosy fire, and the cutting up of old t-shirts into long strips to make t-shirt yarn...
Add one massive crochet hook and time to have a go at making a circular crochet rug...I didn't follow any particular pattern and just 'winged it' as I usually do...
My rug ended up smaller than I had hoped (and a teeny bit wavy).  With the t-shirts I had left over, the colours didn't seem to blend as well with the rest...and it just happened to be the perfect size for this round cushion pad...
I'm quite pleased with my first attempt at a crochet t-shirt rug cushion!...Ta-dah...
and as my dearest hubby pointed out...we're all part of this cushion... From left to right, His, hers, mine and Ro's...
Sunday morning started with rain and lots of it, many places have flood warnings or have been evacuated already (not here up North). Miss M decided she would like to make a bag and asked for a little help. Her very first time on the sewing machine...
She then finished her bag by sewing a pretty button on and was very pleased with her creation.
We had chuckie eggs with soldiers for lunch.  We tried these small brown eggs from the egg lady the other day (from Maran hens)...
Then the rain stopped...so we made a dash for it...we all needed fresh air and to let off a bit of steam...
And lastly...Miss M's topic this term at school is Castles.  They had a dress up day today complete with banquet, she decided she wanted to go as a servant.  She had the perfect outfit in mind and googled it, as you do.  The picture she showed me was of the Downton Abbey staff.  So I set about making an apron from an old pair of white curtains...she stopped me half way through to say...oh and Mummy can you put a pocket in it as well please?  I wonder if she thinks all mums make outfits, like it's a normal everyday thing? I'll have a go...
She was really pleased and told me she got to serve all the guests at the banquet...Nx
